Planting Intentions Ritual
We’re officially settled into Spring, y’all. Birds are chirping, flowers are blooming and the land is fertile. This makes it the perfect time to work with nature by planting literal and figurative seeds.
I created this ritual to help you set, plant, and grow your intentions this season. All you need is paper, permanent marker, a pot, soil, water, seeds or seedlings, and your own magic. This ritual symbolizes the balance and co-creation it takes to manifest your intentions. It also allows you to physically nurture them (and your plant) while patiently watching them grow.
Intention Ritual
Step 1: Cleanse
Prepare for your ritual by cleansing your energy and workspace in a way that resonates with you, like taking a spiritual bath, smudging and/or meditation.
Step 2: Set Intention
Meditate on your intention. What seed do you want to plant? How do you want it to grow? Get clear on your intention, then write it down on a piece of paper in permanent marker. (You can choose a specific color to increase the energy. For example, if it’s love-related you can write it in red.)
End it by expressing gratitude to Spirit, the Universe, and/or any guides you’re working with and sign your name.
Step 3: Power Your Intention
It’s time to cast your spell. Read your intention, visualize it, then affirm it with your words. You can say something like, “I know what I plant will grow,” or use a passage from a sacred text. Repeat it three times to set your intention.
Step 4: Plant
Fold your paper and plant it in a pot or garden along with seeds or seedlings. Choose a plant that has a spiritual meaning connected to your intention. For example, if it’s related to financial growth, you can plant it with alfalfa.
Your intention is the most important ingredient, so don’t sweat it if you can’t access a certain plant—just choose one that resonates with you.
Step 5: Water Your Intention
Get a glass or pitcher of water and bless it by saying something like, “This water powers my intention.” Now water your plant and close the ritual by thanking Spirit, the Universe, and/or any guides you’re working with.
Your Intention is Set!
Don’t forget to care for your plant with a balance of action and patience. Like intentions, give it the love and elements it needs without being overbearing. Allow it time to grow according to nature’s will and watch the magic happen!
